you know, I’m looking at this, and thinking about the association of kink with “evil”.
It seems to me that there was sort of “throw out the baby with the bath water” mentality back in the day - both by “kinksters” (the libertins perhaps would be a better term) and the stodgy religious. The idea was that if you wanted to have big sex parties, it was evil, and if you were gonna be evil, you might as well go all the way and throw out human decency and worship the devil too while you are at it.
Thankfully, modern kinksters don’t have to go through that nonsense… or do they? How many time do I hear the terms naughty, or even evil tossed around? I feel echoes of this still remains in the subconscious of many kinksters (and in the conscious opinion of many stodgy conservatives). We shouldn’t stand for that. Just because I happen to like latex and bondage doesn’t mean I am not a decent human being…
Just like going to church and doing strictly missionary sex doesn’t someone is either. How people have sex exactly doesn’t matter, it’s how they treat one another that does.
